What the generator writes for you
Every set includes three greeting messages, three away messages, four quick replies, two messages for the occasion you pick and two business profile descriptions. The wording changes with your industry: a restaurant asks for the date, time and number of guests, a clinic asks for a name and preferred appointment time, and an online store asks for the order number.
Nothing you type is sent to our servers. The messages are built in your browser, so you can try as many combinations as you like and download everything as a text file.
- Greeting messages: welcome, what you can help with, reply-time promise
- Away messages: working hours, what to include in the message, when you'll reply
- Quick replies: /price, /location, /hours and /thanks
- Special hours: Ramadan, Eid, National Day or vacation
- Business description: two short profile texts with your hours
How greeting and away messages work in the WhatsApp Business app
According to the WhatsApp Help Center, a greeting message is sent automatically when a customer messages you for the first time, and again when they write after 14 days without messages. If a customer wrote to you in the last 14 days, they don't get it.
Away messages can be sent always, on a custom schedule, or only outside business hours. The last option appears once you have set business hours in your business profile. For both features you choose the recipients: everyone, people not in your address book, everyone except selected contacts, or only selected contacts. Your phone needs an internet connection for either message to go out, and greeting messages switch off if you connect Meta Business Agent.
Quick replies are shortcuts for messages you send often. You can save up to 50 and send one by typing / in a chat. The app also creates default replies from your business profile, such as your address and hours.
Arabic greeting, away and Ramadan message examples
The generator writes Arabic natively for Gulf businesses, not as a translation of the English text. Here are three examples it produces for a café with Sunday to Thursday hours:
- English greeting: Hi! 👋 Welcome to *Bayt Al Qahwa*. How can we help you today? 😊
- English away: Thanks for your message! We're away right now. Our team is available Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, and will reply as soon as we're back.
Tips for business auto-replies customers actually read
Put the most useful line first: most customers read only the start of an automatic reply. Name your business, say what you can help with, and give a realistic reply time. Promising "within 15 minutes" and answering the next morning does more harm than no promise at all.
WhatsApp's Help Center publishes no character limit for greeting or away messages, but long texts get skipped. The generator flags any message over 300 characters as a guide. For the business profile, Meta's developer documentation limits the description to 512 characters and the About text to 139 characters on the API.
Use WhatsApp formatting sparingly. Bold for your business name is enough; the WhatsApp text formatter lets you add italics or lists if you need them. Remember to switch your Ramadan or holiday message back after the season.
When one auto-reply isn't enough
The WhatsApp Business app sends one fixed greeting and one fixed away message from a single phone. Growing teams usually need more: answers that depend on the question, several agents on the same number, and replies around the clock in more than one language.
With the WhatsApp Business API and OmniChannels.ai, a chatbot answers common questions such as prices, hours and order status, an AI agent handles open-ended requests in Arabic and English, and your team picks up the rest in a shared inbox.
