In short
Shopify can trigger WhatsApp, SMS and RCS messages through OmniChannels.ai for order confirmations, shipping updates, COD checks and abandoned checkout reminders. A Shopify Flow workflow calls our REST API with its Send HTTP request action, where your plan includes it, or a store webhook goes to n8n, Make, Zapier or your own function, which then calls the API. There is no Shopify app to install.
What you can do
Order confirmation
When an order is created, send an approved WhatsApp template with the order number and total, or an SMS where the customer has no WhatsApp.
Shipping and fulfilment updates
When an order is fulfilled, send the carrier and tracking link on WhatsApp, and follow up when it is out for delivery if your shipping app reports that event.
Cash-on-delivery confirmation
When a COD order is placed, ask the customer on WhatsApp to confirm it. Their reply arrives on your webhook, and your automation tags or cancels the order before it ships.
Abandoned checkout reminder
When a checkout is abandoned, remind customers who opted in to marketing messages, using an approved WhatsApp marketing template.
Back in stock and review requests
When an item is restocked, notify customers who asked to be told; a few days after delivery, ask for a product review.
Ask an AI assistant
An assistant connected to both our MCP server and your Shopify store, through a connector of its own, can find the orders and send the updates after you approve.
Try asking
“Send a WhatsApp order update to customers whose orders shipped today.”
How it connects
Shopify Flow can call our REST API directly with its Send HTTP request action: set the URL, an Authorization: Bearer header and a JSON body built from the order. This suits single SMS sends, which take JSON. WhatsApp and bulk sends use multipart/form-data, so they usually go through n8n, Make, Zapier or a small function of yours. Check Shopify's current plan details for Flow and the HTTP action.
Without Flow, subscribe to store webhooks such as orders/create or orders/fulfilled. Our API does not accept Shopify's webhook payload as it is, so point the webhook at an automation tool or your own endpoint, which picks the fields it needs and calls our API. Delivery statuses and customer replies come back to the one webhook URL configured on your OmniChannels.ai account.
- Direct: Shopify Flow Send HTTP request action, where your plan includes it
- Indirect: store webhook → n8n, Make, Zapier or your function → our API
- WhatsApp messages outside the 24-hour window need approved templates
- Marketing messages such as abandoned checkout reminders need opt-in
- Statuses and replies arrive on your account's webhook URL
