# WhatsApp Green Tick Eligibility Checker

The WhatsApp green tick is now a blue checkmark. API numbers get it as an Official Business Account: the business must follow WhatsApp policies, be on the platform for at least 30 days, complete Meta Business Verification, turn on two-step verification, have an approved display name and be notable in the news. App users get it through the paid Meta Verified subscription. Meta decides every request.

## How to check your WhatsApp green tick eligibility
1. **Choose your route:** Pick WhatsApp Business API if your number runs on the Cloud API, or the WhatsApp Business app if you use the free app. The badge works differently on each.
2. **Answer Meta's criteria:** Answer yes, no or not sure for each requirement Meta publishes, such as business verification, two-step verification and an approved display name.
3. **Add your press coverage:** For the API route, paste links to news articles about your business. The tool removes tracking codes, drops duplicates and flags press releases, social posts and your own site.
4. **Fix the gaps and download the kit:** Read your readiness score and action list, then download the application kit as a PDF or copy it, with the checklist, press list and 30-day re-apply plan.

## Green tick or blue tick: two routes to the badge

People still say “green tick”, but Meta now shows a blue checkmark next to verified businesses on WhatsApp. How you get it depends on where your number lives.
Numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform (the API) get the badge as an Official Business Account, or OBA. You request it in WhatsApp Manager and Meta reviews it. Numbers on the WhatsApp Business app get it through Meta Verified for Business, a paid monthly subscription. Meta does not grant OBA status to WhatsApp Business app numbers, employees or test accounts.
- API number: request an Official Business Account in WhatsApp Manager
- WhatsApp Business app: subscribe to Meta Verified in Tools
- Both routes show the same blue checkmark
- Businesses that already had a verified badge keep it, according to WhatsApp's Help Center

## Meta's Official Business Account criteria

Meta's developer documentation on Official Business Accounts, updated 19 September 2026, lists five conditions. Meta's Business Help Center adds two practical points: the number must already use the display name you want, and the business must be notable. The Help Center also mentions a record of high-quality messaging with at least 1,000 conversations over 30 consecutive days as an alternative to business verification.
If you meet the criteria but don't see the option in WhatsApp Manager, Meta says to contact your Meta point of contact, your solution provider or Meta Support.
- The business complies with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy
- The business has been registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days
- The business portfolio that owns the number is verified through Business Verification
- Two-step verification is turned on for the phone number
- The phone number's display name is approved

## Notability and press links

Meta grants the Official Business Account to notable businesses, which its Help Center describes as well-known businesses with a substantial presence in news articles from publications with sizable audiences. Meta publishes no minimum number of articles, so the press thresholds in this checker are our own estimate.
Our advice: count only independent news coverage. Paid placements, press releases, sponsored posts, directory listings and your own website aren't independent coverage, so don't rely on them. Paste your links into the checker and it labels each one, then copy a clean numbered list for the request form.

## How to request the badge, and what to do after a rejection

In Meta Business Suite, open All tools, then WhatsApp Manager, and select the phone number. Under Profile, find Official business account and click Submit request. Two-step verification must be on before you can submit. Meta notifies you when it has reviewed the request, and it publishes no fixed review time.
If the request is rejected, you can submit a new one after 30 days. Use that time to fix any criterion you missed, align the display name with your website and legal name, and gather stronger news coverage. The downloadable kit includes a 30-day re-apply plan.

## Meta Verified for the WhatsApp Business app

On the WhatsApp Business app, the badge comes with Meta Verified, a paid monthly subscription that also includes impersonation protection and in-app support. Plans and prices vary by country and business, and the app shows the plan available to you. If you don't see Meta Verified in Tools, it isn't available to your account yet.
WhatsApp's Help Center says you must be at least 18, use a number in a country where it's offered, have been on the app for some time, have sent a message recently, have a profile name and picture, and not already subscribe through Meta Business Suite. Government and political organisations can't subscribe today. The business name must match your documents. Review can take up to three business days, the payment is refunded if Meta can't verify you, and subscribing doesn't guarantee a badge.

## WhatsApp green tick verification: FAQ

### How do I get the green tick on WhatsApp Business?

On the API, request an Official Business Account in WhatsApp Manager after meeting Meta's criteria: policy compliance, 30 days on the platform, business verification, two-step verification and an approved display name, plus notable news coverage. On the WhatsApp Business app, subscribe to Meta Verified from Tools. Meta reviews every request.

### How much does the WhatsApp green tick cost?

Meta's developer documentation lists no fee for requesting an Official Business Account on the API. On the WhatsApp Business app, the badge comes with Meta Verified, a paid monthly subscription whose plans and prices vary by country and business. The app shows the price available to you.

### What is the difference between the WhatsApp green tick and blue tick?

They are the same badge under two names. The green tick was the old look; Meta now shows a blue checkmark for verified businesses, both for Official Business Accounts on the API and for Meta Verified subscribers on the app.

### How do I request a WhatsApp Official Business Account?

Open Meta Business Suite, go to All tools, then WhatsApp Manager, and select the phone number. Under Profile, find Official business account and click Submit request. Turn on two-step verification first, fill in the form and add your press links.

### How long does WhatsApp official business account verification take?

Meta publishes no review time for Official Business Account requests and notifies you of the decision. For Meta Verified on the app, WhatsApp says verification can take up to three business days, sometimes longer when there are many submissions.

### My green tick request was rejected. What now?

You can submit a new request after 30 days. Recheck each criterion, make sure the display name matches your website and legal name, and collect independent news coverage. Meta publishes no appeal route for this decision in its OBA documentation.

### Can a WhatsApp Business app number get the green tick?

Not as an Official Business Account: Meta doesn't grant OBA status to WhatsApp Business app numbers. App users can get the verified badge through a Meta Verified subscription, where it's available. Moving the number to the API is the other route.

### Does the verified badge improve delivery or lower prices?

No. It's a trust signal. Meta notes that numbers without OBA status don't appear in WhatsApp search unless the user has saved the number, so the badge can help customers find you. Pricing and messaging limits work the same way.
