**Definition:** A WhatsApp catalog is a structured inventory of products or services, connected to a WhatsApp Business Account, that customers can browse, add to a cart and order from inside a WhatsApp chat.

Catalogs are uploaded to Meta through the Commerce API or Commerce Manager and connected to the WABA. Each item has a name, description, price, images and availability, and can be a physical product or a service such as an appointment.

Businesses share items with several message types. A catalog message shows the whole catalog. A single-product message highlights one item. A multi-product message presents a curated selection of up to 30 products in sections. A product carousel shows scrollable cards. Template versions of these formats exist for sending outside the customer service window.

With cart functionality enabled, customers can add several products and submit one order, which arrives at the business as a webhook. Payment and fulfilment then happen through the business's own systems or a supported payment integration, depending on the market.

Keep catalog prices and stock in sync with your store. Outdated availability is the most common source of complaints in WhatsApp commerce.
