**Definition:** An Official Business Account (OBA) is a WhatsApp business phone number that Meta has verified as belonging to an authentic, notable business. It shows a checkmark next to the business name. The badge was historically green and Meta's documentation now describes it as blue.

Businesses still say "green tick", but Meta's current documentation says OBA numbers have a blue checkmark beside their name in the contacts view. OBA status is requested per phone number, through WhatsApp Manager or the API.

Meta lists these eligibility criteria: compliance with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy; at least 30 days on the WhatsApp Business Platform; a business portfolio verified through Business Verification; two-step verification on the number; and an approved display name. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee approval, and Meta does not grant OBA to employees, test accounts or WhatsApp Business app numbers.

If a request is rejected, the business must wait 30 days before applying again. Meta notes that numbers without OBA status do not appear in in-app search unless the user has saved the number, so OBA also improves discoverability.

The badge is a trust signal, not a delivery or pricing advantage. Most of the value comes from business verification itself, which also unlocks higher messaging limits.
