**Definition:** Embedded Signup is Meta's onboarding flow that a partner embeds in its website so a business can create or select its business portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account, verify a phone number and grant the partner access, all in one guided window.

Embedded Signup is built on Facebook Login for Business and Meta's JavaScript SDK. When the customer clicks the partner's button, a Meta window opens in which they log in, accept the WhatsApp terms, select or create a business portfolio and WABA, add and verify a business phone number, and enter a display name.

When the flow completes it returns the customer's WABA ID, phone number ID and an exchangeable code to the partner. The partner's server then exchanges the code for a business token, registers the number for Cloud API, subscribes to webhooks and, if it is a Solution Partner, shares its credit line.

Businesses onboarded this way own their WhatsApp assets. If the partner is not a Solution Partner, the business must add its own payment method before it can start messaging.

Meta versions the flow and retires old versions. Its documentation warns that Embedded Signup v2 and v3, including their public preview versions, will be deprecated on 15 October 2026, so partners need to migrate to v4 before that date. Common onboarding blockers are a phone number still registered on the WhatsApp app, a display name that does not match the brand, and an unverified business portfolio.
