**Definition:** Conversational AI is the set of technologies, such as natural language understanding, large language models, speech recognition and text-to-speech, that let software hold natural conversations with people in text or voice and complete tasks for them.

Earlier systems used intent classification: the user's message was mapped to a fixed list of intents ("track order", "change address") and a scripted flow answered. Large language models can understand far more varied phrasing and generate replies, and when connected to tools they can look up data and take actions.

Business uses include customer support on WhatsApp and web chat, sales qualification, appointment booking, and voice agents on the phone. The most reliable deployments combine generative AI with structured elements: approved knowledge sources, defined actions, and guardrails on what the assistant may say.

For MENA audiences, language coverage is decisive. Customers mix Arabic and English, write Arabic in Latin letters (Arabizi) and use Gulf, Egyptian or Levantine dialects. Test with real customer messages, not just Modern Standard Arabic.

Plan for handover to humans, logging and review of conversations, and data-protection obligations for what is stored.

OmniChannels.ai provides chatbots and AI agents through BroadNet AI, with English and Arabic language understanding and handover to a human agent.
