answer: "Plan a Black Friday messaging campaign backwards from Friday 27 November 2026: clean and grow your opted-in list in the first weeks, get WhatsApp marketing templates approved at least a few days early, tease on day minus seven, launch on the day, and follow up after the sale. Respect each market's quiet hours, keep OTPs separate from promotions, and test throughput before the peak."
takeaways: ["Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November; White Friday in the Gulf is commonly run the same Friday, but retailers set their own dates, and 11.11 is 11 November.", "Meta says a template approval decision can take up to 24 hours, and appeals are also reviewed within 24 hours, so submit every campaign template well before launch.", "WhatsApp limits how many marketing templates one person receives from all businesses, and Meta currently does not deliver marketing templates to US numbers, so campaigns cannot rely on WhatsApp alone.", "Our regulation data shows promotional quiet hours in the UAE (21:00 to 07:00), Saudi Arabia (22:00 to 09:00, and 01:00 to 12:00 in Ramadan) and Qatar (21:00 to 09:00); other markets need local daytime scheduling.", "Every SMS example here fits one GSM-7 segment (160 characters); one Arabic or emoji character moves the message to Unicode, where a segment holds 70."]
faq:
  - q: "When is Black Friday 2026?"
a: "Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November, the day after US Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November. In the Gulf, White Friday is commonly run on the same Friday, though individual retailers announce their own start and end dates, often starting days earlier. Confirm the dates of the marketplaces you sell on."
  - q: "How early should I start a Black Friday SMS and WhatsApp campaign?"
a: "About six weeks before: use the first two weeks to clean the list and grow opt-ins, week three to approve WhatsApp templates and register sender IDs, the following weeks for teasers and segments, then launch. Sender ID registration has lead times in many countries, and Meta template review can take up to 24 hours."
  - q: "Can I send Black Friday promotions by WhatsApp to anyone?"
a: "No. Marketing messages that start a conversation must be approved marketing templates sent to people who opted in, through the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta may also cap how many marketing templates one person receives, and it currently does not deliver marketing templates to US numbers. The Business app is limited to small broadcast lists."
  - q: "Are there sending-time rules for promotional SMS?"
a: "In some markets, yes. Our regulation data lists promotional quiet hours for the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and a time window under the TCPA in the US. Many other markets have no regulator-published window, so schedule promotions in the recipient's local daytime and keep OTPs and alerts on a transactional route."
  - q: "Should I send Black Friday offers by SMS or WhatsApp?"
a: "Use both, for different jobs. SMS reaches every opted-in mobile number and works for short, time-bound reminders. WhatsApp suits rich product messages and conversations, but only for opted-in users on WhatsApp and subject to Meta's rules. Send WhatsApp first where the customer uses it and fall back to SMS where they do not."
  - q: "How do I avoid carrier blocking during Black Friday?"
a: "Send only to opted-in numbers, use a registered sender ID where your market requires one, include opt-out wording, avoid sending the whole list in a single burst and keep OTP traffic on a separate route. Watch delivery reports during the first minutes and pause if failure rates climb."

# Black Friday SMS and WhatsApp Campaigns: 6-Week Plan

Canonical: https://omnichannels.ai/blog/black-friday-white-friday-messaging-campaigns/
Language: en
Publisher: OmniChannels.ai by BroadNet Technologies

This guide is for e-commerce and retail marketing teams who want a Black Friday, White Friday, 11.11 and Cyber Monday plan for SMS and WhatsApp. It gives a six-week timeline, list and compliance checks, 20 copy-paste messages with their categories and character counts, and a throughput plan for the peak. It is practical guidance, not legal advice; confirm local rules with the regulator or counsel.

## When are Black Friday, White Friday, 11.11 and Cyber Monday in 2026?

Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026, the day after US Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November. White Friday is the Gulf and wider Arabic-speaking market name for the same sale season and is commonly run on the same Friday. Singles' Day, or 11.11, falls on Wednesday 11 November.

| Event | 2026 date | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 11.11 (Singles' Day) | Wednesday 11 November | Fixed date every year |
| Black Friday | Friday 27 November | Day after US Thanksgiving |
| White Friday (Gulf) | Commonly Friday 27 November | Retailers and marketplaces announce their own windows; some start earlier |
| Cyber Monday | Monday 30 November | Online-only offers are typical |

Marketplaces and retailers set their own sale windows, so build your calendar from your own offer dates, not from a generic list. If you sell on a marketplace, confirm its dates in the seller portal.

## What is the six-week plan?

Work backwards from your launch day. The timeline below uses Friday 27 November as D-day; shift it for 11.11 or your own date.

| Week (2026) | Days to D-day | Focus | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 to 18 October | -46 to -40 | Audit | Opt-in records, sender IDs, template inventory, last year's results |
| 19 to 25 October | -39 to -33 | List hygiene and opt-in growth | Clean list, new opt-in prompts at checkout and in chat |
| 26 October to 1 November | -32 to -26 | Registrations | Sender IDs registered, WhatsApp number and display name ready |
| 2 to 8 November | -25 to -19 | Templates and segments | Templates submitted and approved, segments built |
| 9 to 15 November | -18 to -12 | Early signals | 11.11 sends if relevant, early-access list built |
| 16 to 22 November | -11 to -5 | Teasers | Teaser and early-access messages, throughput test |
| 23 to 30 November | -4 to +3 | Launch, peak and Cyber Monday | Send waves, monitor, follow up |

If you are reading this in early November, compress the first three rows into the next few days: the items that cannot be rushed are sender ID registration lead times and opt-in growth. Our [marketing calendar tool](/tools/messaging-marketing-calendar/) lays out the dates.

## How do you clean your list before the peak?

Remove numbers that cannot receive messages and people who should not get them, so the send budget goes to real customers. A clean list also improves delivery and reduces complaints.

1. **Validate numbers.** Reformat to E.164 with the [phone number formatter](/tools/phone-number-formatter/), and use [HLR lookup](/blog/hlr-lookup-number-validation/) to find dead or invalid numbers before a big send.
2. **Apply opt-outs everywhere.** Merge STOP replies, WhatsApp blocks and email unsubscribes into one suppression list.
3. **Check consent records.** Keep the source, timestamp and channel for each number; our regulation data calls for verifiable opt-in in the Gulf, Egypt and India, and express written consent for marketing in the US. See [opt-in and consent for multichannel campaigns](/blog/opt-in-consent-multichannel-campaigns/) and the [opt-in consent generator](/tools/opt-in-consent-generator/).
4. **Remove duplicates** across lists and channels so one person does not get the same offer three times.
5. **Tag by channel preference** so the customer who answers on WhatsApp is not texted first.

## How do you grow opt-ins before Black Friday?

Offer something concrete in exchange for consent, and say clearly what the person is signing up for. The best sources are moments when the customer is already engaged.

- **Checkout:** an unticked box for "text me order updates and offers".
- **Click-to-WhatsApp links and QR codes** on packaging and in store: see [click-to-chat links and QR codes](/blog/whatsapp-click-to-chat-links-qr-codes/).
- **Early-access list:** "Join the Black Friday early-access list" on your website and in your WhatsApp chats.
- **Service conversations:** after a support chat, offer opt-in to sale alerts.

Do not add people to a promotional list because they bought once. Never buy lists.

## How do you get your channels ready?

Three items have lead times: sender IDs, the WhatsApp number and template approval. Start them first.

- **Sender IDs.** Many markets require alphanumeric sender ID registration, with lead times from days to weeks. Our regulation data shows for example 5 to 7 business days in the UAE and 5 to 10 business days in Saudi Arabia, typical ranges, not promises. Check the [sender ID rules](/sender-id/uae/) for your country and our [registration service](/services/registrations/).
- **WhatsApp number.** Business verification, a display name and the right number take time; see the [Meta business verification guide](/blog/meta-business-verification-guide/), the [display name guide](/blog/whatsapp-display-name-guidelines/) and [which phone number to use](/blog/whatsapp-business-phone-number-guide/).
- **Templates.** Meta says it can take up to 24 hours to reach an approval decision, and appeals are also reviewed within 24 hours. Variables must not start or end the body, and a template whose body and footer duplicate an existing one is rejected. Submit at least a week before launch to leave room to fix rejections. See [template categories and approval](/blog/whatsapp-template-categories-approval/).

Also check your messaging limit: a new portfolio starts at 250 unique recipients per rolling 24 hours, and verification is one route to 2,000. A Black Friday list larger than your limit needs a plan. Read [messaging limits and quality rating](/blog/whatsapp-messaging-limits-quality-rating/).

## When can you send? Quiet hours by country

Where a regulator publishes a promotional window, follow it; elsewhere, send in the recipient's local daytime. The figures below come from our regulation data and the regulators' documents.

| Market | Promotional SMS window in our data | Source |
|---|---|---|
| UAE | Not between 21:00 and 07:00 GST | TDRA spam policy |
| Saudi Arabia | Not between 22:00 and 09:00, and not between 01:00 and 12:00 during Ramadan | CST spam regulations |
| Qatar | Not between 21:00 and 09:00 | CRA Spam Regulation |
| United States | Marketing within the recipient's local 08:00 to 21:00 under the TCPA | 47 CFR 64.1200 |
| Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan | No regulator-published window found; use local daytime | Regulation data |

Transactional messages such as order confirmations and OTPs are not subject to these promotional windows in our data, which is why they should run on a separate route. Use the [send-time planner](/tools/send-time-planner/) and see [SMS marketing rules by country](/blog/sms-marketing-rules-by-country/). Ramadan does not overlap with November 2026.

## Which segments should you use?

Segment by behaviour, not just by country. Each segment gets a different message and timing.

| Segment | Message |
|---|---|
| VIP and repeat buyers | Early access, sent first |
| Wishlist and abandoned basket | Reminder with the exact item |
| Recent buyers (last 30 days) | Complementary offer, not a repeat discount |
| Lapsed customers | Win-back offer |
| New subscribers | Welcome plus the sale preview |
| Non-WhatsApp users | SMS version |

Segment sizes feed your throughput plan below.

## What are 20 copy-paste messages?

Replace "Brand" and links with your own. The SMS examples are plain GSM-7 text and each fits one 160-character segment; the counts include the opt-out line. If you add emoji or Arabic, the limit becomes 70 characters per segment (67 when joined), so recount in the [SMS character counter](/tools/sms-character-counter/).

Only claim a discount or deadline you will honour. In the UAE and other markets that require a registered sender ID, send promotions from your registered ID, not a generic one.

### Ten WhatsApp templates

Each template carries the category you would select in your template manager. Marketing is for promotions, offers and recommendations; Utility is for non-promotional messages tied to a specific order or account. If a template mixes both, Meta treats it as marketing. Meta can recategorise approved templates, so choose honestly.

Notes:

- Marketing templates require opt-in, and Meta may cap how many marketing templates one person receives from all businesses. A capped message fails with error 131049; Meta advises waiting at least 24 hours before resending. Marketing messages sent inside an open 24-hour customer service window do not count toward that limit.
- Meta currently does not deliver marketing templates to WhatsApp users with US phone numbers, so use SMS for US recipients.
- Add buttons for the link and for "Stop promotions" so opting out is easy. Preview with the [WhatsApp template preview tool](/tools/whatsapp-template-preview/) and browse more [message templates](/templates/).
- Do not write "Black Friday" in a template you plan to reuse all year; keep one seasonal template per event.

More examples are in [SMS marketing examples](/blog/sms-marketing-examples-templates/) and [WhatsApp message template examples](/blog/whatsapp-message-template-examples/).

## How do you plan throughput for the peak?

Estimate how many messages you will send per wave, how many waves you need and what your route can handle. Do the arithmetic before launch day.

Worked example (synthetic): a Riyadh fashion retailer has 400,000 opted-in numbers: 150,000 VIP and repeat buyers, 200,000 general and 50,000 abandoned baskets. It splits the launch into three waves so that offers arrive in recipients' local daytime and the support team can answer replies:

| Wave | Segment | Messages | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | VIP | 150,000 | 12:00 |
| 2 | Abandoned baskets | 50,000 | 15:00 |
| 3 | General list | 200,000 | 17:00 |

The team asks its provider to size capacity for the largest wave, schedules in batches, and tests a 5,000-message sample the week before. Sending times respect the Saudi window of no promotions between 22:00 and 09:00. Capacity is sized per account, so confirm throughput with your provider early; see our [high-volume SMS sending guide](/blog/high-volume-sms-sending-guide/) for the maths and the [delivery status guide](/blog/message-delivery-status-explained/) for what the statuses mean.

Keep OTP and order-notification traffic on a separate route so a promotional burst cannot delay a login code. Price your plan with the [cost estimator](/pricing/estimator/), the [SMS pricing by country](/sms-pricing/uae/) pages and the [WhatsApp pricing](/whatsapp-pricing/united-arab-emirates/) pages; the final quote confirms the cost.

## How do you handle replies and the post-sale follow-up?

Customers reply with questions during a sale, so staff the inbox and prepare answers. After the sale, send a thank-you and a review request, and wind down the promotional frequency.

1. Staff the inbox for the peak hours and prepare saved replies; see [customer service reply templates](/blog/customer-service-reply-templates/).
2. Send order confirmations and shipping updates as utility messages; see [logistics delivery notifications](/blog/logistics-delivery-notifications/) and [COD confirmation](/blog/cod-order-confirmation-whatsapp/).
3. Recover abandoned baskets with one reminder; see [abandoned cart recovery](/blog/whatsapp-abandoned-cart-recovery/).
4. Two to seven days after delivery, send a review request.
5. Move buyers into your retention programme; see [customer retention messaging](/blog/customer-retention-messaging-strategies/).
6. Review opt-out and block rates by wave and adjust frequency for next season.

## What mistakes should you avoid?

- **Sending to the whole list at once.** It breaks quiet hours and swamps your support team.
- **Skipping opt-in checks.** Seasonal pressure is when complaints rise.
- **Submitting templates the day before.** A rejection leaves no time to fix it.
- **Mixing promotions into utility templates.** Meta treats mixed content as marketing and can recategorise.
- **Ignoring US numbers on WhatsApp.** Marketing templates are not delivered there.
- **Using the same offer text on every channel.** Adapt length and call to action.
- **Forgetting the unsubscribe.** Every promotional SMS needs opt-out wording in the markets above.

## How OmniChannels.ai helps

OmniChannels.ai runs [campaigns](/platform/campaigns/) on SMS and WhatsApp with four sending modes, Excel or CSV upload, preview, scheduling and duplicate filtering, and channel fallback such as WhatsApp then SMS. Delivery reports have filters and CSV export, and the [Omni Inbox](/platform/unified-inbox/) keeps replies in one thread per customer. Our team prepares sender ID and WhatsApp registrations with you; approvals stay with Meta, operators and regulators. See [WhatsApp for e-commerce](/solutions/ecommerce-retail/) or book a demo to plan your peak.
