**Short answer:** RCS business messaging can reach iPhone users, but only under conditions. Apple supports RCS in the Messages app from iOS 18, when the user's carrier supports RCS on iPhone. Google describes RCS for Business as reaching customers on Android and iOS. Some features, such as persistent suggestions, are not supported on iOS, so test on iPhones.

## What Apple and Google say

Apple's support documentation says RCS on iPhone needs iOS 18 and a text-messaging plan from a carrier that supports RCS on iPhone. Apple calls RCS a carrier-provided service. RCS chats appear in green bubbles, like SMS, with features such as typing indicators, read receipts and high-quality media.

Google's RCS for Business site describes engaging customers on Android and iOS. Availability on a given iPhone still depends on the carrier and the iOS version.

## Which features behave differently on iPhone?

Google's send-messages documentation lists iOS among the clients that do not support persistent "Open a URL" suggestions. It also notes that iOS detects RCS for Business OTPs and suggests them for autofill, as it does for SMS codes, with no app integration needed.

Rendering of rich cards, carousels and chips can differ between Google Messages and Apple Messages, so design messages that still make sense if an element is shown differently.

## How to plan an RCS campaign that includes iPhone users

1. Confirm, per market and per carrier, whether RCS and RBM are live, including on iPhone. Availability depends on the carrier and is confirmed per market.
2. Run a capability check before sending, and send SMS when a number is not RCS-capable.
3. Test every rich card, carousel and suggestion on real iPhones and Android phones.
4. Keep a short SMS version of each message with the essential information.

## What this means in the GCC

iPhone is common in GCC markets, but RCS on iPhone depends on operator rollout, which varies by country and network. Treat RCS as an upgrade on top of SMS rather than a replacement. OmniChannels.ai sends RCS with automatic SMS fallback where RCS is not available.
